It is so thrilling to be a part of a larger community of yogis and yoginis and yoga teachers of all traditions and places.
In my nook of the world, I don't get a good chance at interacting with other yoga teachers ... our teaching schedules vary as do where we teach, and there is not much cohesiveness or glue that brings us together often enough. It is certainly something that I am missing... It's just so important to have that community of like-minded individuals with whom to strive and improve and help each other on all fronts... that we must stand together with one ultimate goal, and realize it together. The more the merrier, right?! And the higher the chances of success!
Yogi Bhajan, who first taught Kundalini Yoga in the west... was very clear about the need for community - he said that the benefits you get from an individual sadhana are multiplied in a group sadhana, and that the group aura makes our aura brighter and everyone balances eachother out, and if one person in the group is in high spirits the rest of us get brought up too... and we challenge each other, we grow, we inspire and uplift one another and we don't give up as easily. Community is important also for acting as a 'mirror' in which to see yourself, and for others to see themselves through you too. Recognizing that the Other is You... now that's Yoga!
So~~~* All in all, I look forward to sharing with all of you here on yoga hub, and I pray that we may grow into a warm and wonderful community with lots of heart and lots of grace.
Blessings,
Amrit
Ps: I would be curious to know what you guys do in your local yogic communities, to bring people together (aside from classes!) to get that community cohesiveness going?
