So today I've blocked out the entire day to do some hard-core development on our new community forum. We kind of had a half baked forum as a part of our YogaHub.TV site for about a year, but we never really promoted it and I've disabled it for now.
We gathered the entire YH team twice last week for some huge idea brainstorming so we could do a round table on all the features we wanted in a forum and what we definitely didn't want (in other words, how to keep it simple and easy to use).
It was a great session with a ton of exciting ideas.
It's funny to think back to the beginning, I'm talking way back before we even had a web site, an online store, or even a community. When the only thing YogaHub had was a simple blog with one person blogging.
In those early idea generating sessions, we had always been planning on creating a community forum, and we even created a web site mockup for what it would look like. However, I suppose we were putting the cart before the horse as there were other things we had to get completed before we could effectively begin to build and create a online forum. But, we're here again, nearly 3 years later and we now have an audience, and people are asking for it. So with that, it's time for me to focus.
Here's a thumbnail image of the mockup we created back in May of 2006. This will give you a basic idea for how the forum will look, but I'm sure there will be some modifications and additions.
